The first thing people want to know when we tell them about the houseboat is how we deal with the cold and damp. It’s all about the heating and plumbing systems. This is a new dehumidifier, pressure hose and macerating toilet going aboard.

Wheelhouse
The wheelhouse used to be collapsible to enable the barge to pass under low bridges. It is now a permanent fixture that we’re going to clear out and turn into a usable living area in Spring 2014.
Out with the old bathroom
A shot of the old bathroom for posterity. We’re replacing the vacuum toilet with a macerating unit and the grey water systems are all being upgraded.

One of the sleeping cabins. The barge is double beam so it’s surprisingly large, for a barge. We’ll be sure to make the bed before we take photos in future.
